Overall I do like the coat. It is quite warm. In fact on several days with temperatures in the mid 30°F range, I was too warm. The only thing I don't like about the coat is the fleece lining in the sleeves. It is secured with a strap, but tends to be forced out of the end of the sleeve.
My husband has been looking for a new winter jacket, we ordered the Storm Chaser 3 in 1 Jacket . It was delivered sooner than promised and he was very happy with the jacket. I love shopping L.L. Bean
Both my wife and I purchased this jacket and have found it to be one of the absolute BEST buys in winter and spring/fall outerwear. The inside liner makes this jacket extremely comfortable in almost zero degree weather, and the outside shell matches it in both rainy and above 40 degree weather. A consumer should not hesitate to purchase this, as it is most definitely something everyone should have in his or her wardrobe.
Like most Bean products, this is a sound product that performs well and is very versatile. The shell alone is fine for most mid-Atlantic fall days. I only use the shell and fleece liner together for cold winter days (30F and below). I started with the Storm Chaser Parka, but did not like the length.
Here are the product shortcomings/recommendations: 1. The fleece liner should have nylon lined sleaves so it is easy to get your arms in when wearing the fleece and shell together. The fleece sleeve bunches when trying to put your arms in the jacket. A minor annoyance. 2. Make the teeth on the zipper larger so it is easier to insert the zipper end and so it slides easier. 3. Add a chest pocket for sun glassess and more inside pockets on both the shell and fleece. 4. My zipper pull fell off within the first month (just the nylon tab, not the metal pull). This is because the nylon pull is sewed above where you pull. Every other nylon pull I have seen is sewed at the end. Minor flaw, I just tied another piece of nylon through the zipper pull to use as a pull.
Overall, still a "4" star product. Very functional and flexible.
