I don't want this review to sound negative because this is a great chair. Its very solidly built, takes very little time to put together (though two people doing it is a must) and it looks fantastic once its done. My one problem with the chair is that its back is about one hand length too short. If you are hoping to be able to recline in this and rest your head on it, you are going to be sitting in some funny positions to accomplish that. The back is simply too short. I'd have given this six starts for another 5 or 6 inches of cushion in the back. As it stands, I'm probably going to try to figure out how to reupholster a cushion that is longer to suit this need.
It is a solid build, great wood, and looks fantastic, but it leaves something to be desired in terms of head support. Oh one other bit. They quoted me 13 weeks as a shipment date on this, and it arrived in 6 weeks. I'm not sure if that is standard, but it was a nice surprise.
Bought the Morris Chair for my husband. Not too hard to assemble. Really a beautiful piece of furniture. When he sat down on it, however, his bottom hit bottom. The cushion was really insubstantial. Now, my husband is a large man but not gargantuan, but I thought, maybe I won't have that problem. But sitting on it is like sitting on a board. Since then we have bought more foam cushions and upholstery fabric (sitting on two cushions is squishy), and are experimenting. So far it is a beautiful but useless piece of furniture. I'm really surprised that nobody else reviewed in this way. Could we just have gotten unusually inferior cushion material by mistake? Any suggestions?
We ordered this Morris chair and ottoman with burgundy cushions for our summer home and are totally satisfied with the product. It is very well made with excellent quality wood, flawless finish and solid craftsmanship. The design fits perfectly with the mission style of our lake house. Moreover it's the most comfortable piece of furniture in the house! It was easily assembled with a power drill -- using a hand screw-driver may have been a challenge.
