After spending many hours looking for a quality rolling bookbag for my 4th grader, I am more than satisfied with the rolling deluxe bookbag. My daughter walks about 6 city blocks each day back and forth to school so I knew I wanted a very well-made, durable bag. This bag fits the bill. It has sturdy wheels and a bottom padded surface to protect the fabric when being pulled up school staircases. The dimensions are just right for a 10 year old - not too small, it will fit books as well as hats and winter gear that might get stored for the afternoon return trip. The retractable handle is sleek and solid. My only criticism is that I wish there was a mesh side water bottle holder on the outside. Otherwise I believe that this bag is definitely worth the price.
Like the previous reviewer, I too teach college part time and bought this backpack so I wouldn't have to lug so many things around. I am 5'8" and this is a little short for me. I wish the handle were a little longer- it would make it a lot easier. If you buy this for a shorter person (less than about 5'5"), you'll be fine. Taller than that and it's a little hard. I do love the backpack, though- it has a place for everything and keeps me very organized. I love the quality, too.
I got this backpack because I teach college and have to bring my notes and laptop to school (which is a lot to carry). Size wise, I think it is great; the compartments hold a lot and it is easy to get to everything I need.
My complaint about this bag is actually the length of the handle. I am 5' 7" and even when I wear flats, it is a strain on my elbow when I am pulling the bag. I understand that LL Bean says this bag is for all ages, but given its size, I would think this should be for older students or teachers. The handle needs additional length and LL Bean could add one more length to make it more comfortable to pull.
