I bought this bag in red for my 8 year old son last year. I call him the destroyer. This bag has been bounced down three steps each day during the school year fully loaded with books and stuffed so full that you can hardly do up the zippers. It has been pulled through, slush, snow, water puddles and mud. It has been left in the school yard in the pouring rain and in puddles. The handle has been slammed and banged and still has not broken. It is indestructible! It's going on year 2 and still going strong. The only thing that I might change is maybe make the wheels a bit bigger. If you are looking for a great bag this is it.
Looks similar to others but made MUCH better. My son's and daughter's have survived over a year and are still going strong. Background: Up through 3rd grade, we were buying rolling packs from other stores. Similar appearance and much cheaper, but not nearly as durable. Our son would go through 3 or 4 a year, no kidding. Bought these last year in Maine. Used as carry ons to Disneyworld, then back to Hawaii. Best school related purchase ever.
My daughter has had two of these packs. When she was in the first grade it was a little heavy for her. I know they have wheels but they do have to carry the pack to get on and off the bus. She is 8 going into the third grade and it is perfect for her now! Plenty of room for all her stuff. By mid year most of the other kids in her class had to get a new pack. The first one was in such good shape my wife is now using it. The only reason she got a diffent pack for the second grade was she perferred a differnt color. These are worth every penny.
This bag was bought with the idea that it would be used as an airline carry-on bag. It more than meets me expectations for that use. The bag meets the airline size requirements, The small pocket on the front makes access/stowing for the "quart bag" for TSA inspection is very easy. Since the bag is compact, access to the contents when it's in the overhead is very easy as well. Great "other use" for a bag meant to be a book bag. I could go on and on... The bag is proving to be one of my smarter purchases.
