Very durable - on our second year of daily use to school. Has saved my son's back. Minor downsides: too big to fit in most lockers (but small one doesn't hold enough homework) and the back zipper - need to fold back flap for ease of zipping.
My 8-year-old daughter loves this backpack for the multiple pockets and tons of room it provides for the multitudes of STUFF she carries to and from school. She also loves the colors and the flower design. I like it because it rolls, which keeps that weight off her little shoulders. I only rated it a 4 because the first one we had, we had to take back because the handle wouldn't retract after a while. The replacement though has been going strong, with no further handle issues. LLBean was fabulous about replacing it, no hassles, no worries, no problems, with their usual fabulous customer service.
