My daughter is only in the 3rd grade, but she is very rough on her backpack at school. Because she carries so many heavy books, I insist she have a rolling backpack. I believe this will be the last pack I have to buy for at least a year or two, as the fabric is very sturdy and the wheels are similar to those found on inline skates. The pack rolls very smoothly and has a neat outside pocket with holders for school supplies. She loves it, and the blue multi-pattern we selected is feminine, but also practical because it hides the dirt. I plan to buy another one of these when this one finally gives out.
Four of my kids have had this backpack for the last 2 years and it has held up so well. They use it everyday for school and still looks good. The quality of the wheels are far superior to the rolling backpacks you buy other places. We love this backpack and have had NO problems with it.
As with everything LLBean makes, this a quality backpack. My son wanted a rolling backpack for traveling, and this has plenty of room for his DVD player, books, Leapster, etc. He did try bringing it to school as a backpack but the straps kept dragging on the ground and he was too impatient to put the handle down when getting on the bus, etc. We decided he was better off with a "normal" backpack for school, since he doesn't have a heavy load.
