I bought these back packs for my grand children (2). They miss a place on the side to put their water bottles. Other wise they are a good size for a 2nd and 4th grade student. Because of the size they can only fill it with school related things. Mother's request!
This backpack is probably the right size when considering the physical size of my 9 year old, but 4th graders at her school are required to have a 2" 3 ring binder. The binder will barely fit in the pack and if so nothing else will. I may order the larger size and try it for the LLBean quality, but I think I will shop locally first and see what pack dimensions she actually needs to fit her school supplies.
I purchased this backpack based on the age recommendation of L.L. Bean - I did not want something to big or heavy for my 6 year old. Unfortunately, the handle is too short for my 6 year old. He is average height, it not slightly below average and he complains that his foot hits the backpack when he is pulling it behind him. Unfortunately, I am going to have to replace this bag with something he is not tripping himself with. Too bad because I usually love everything I get from LLBean
My daughter was on her fourth backpack by October of this school year. I should have just bought this one at the beginning of the year and would not have had to buy anymore! This is sturdy, strong, holds up to her wear and tear of lugging all of her school work back and forth to school. Well designed, nothing gets caught or dragged to get ripped. Love it!
