ProsDurable, Great Value, Performing as Expected, outlasted every backpack!
I feel obligated to write this review as I just noticed last night that my daughter's backpack is starting to show wear and needs to be replaced. Back when she was in 4th grade and needed a backpack, I balked at paying almost $70 for one...but I reasoned that since I'd been having to buy her 2-3 backpacks a year (she's hard on backpacks) this would be a good investment. Little did I know how true this was.
She is now in 10th grade and this is the first year that there has been any noticeable wear. Any backpack that can make it through six years of daily use...let alone daily use by someone who is that hard on it...deserves kudos.
Thank you LL Bean for this wonderful backpack. I'm actually sad to be retiring it - it's been with us so long. The replacement will definitely come from you too!
I bought this for my daughter, she picked it out and was so excited to have a new wheeling back pack for 3rd grade. Today was the first day of school and the pack will not fit in her locker. What was already and emotional and nerve filled morning was made worse because of the bag. I brought it home with me, I will get to school early with her old back pack and I will be returning this to LLbean.
The pack did seem really well made and durable but just be careful about the size.
My boys are mesmerized by anything with wheels. I bought the oldest one (8) one of these bags last year. It held up all year and gave us no trouble. He will be using it again this year. My 6 year old now wants one and I will purchase the same bag for him. My children are in elementary school so this bag is just the right size. Space gets tight but everything fits. They started school with LLBean bags and will use them throughout their school career as long as I am buying them. We will be buying the larger bags by middle school however.
Actually bought these 2 backpacks for my daughters back in August 2010 for school. Was hesitant to buy because of price but remembered going through 2+ backpacks in 1 year because they weren't as well made. Cheaper, yes but you get what you pay for. Waited to write this review and today was the last day of school. The packpacks look just as they did on the 1st day! Everything still works--zippers, wheels, handles with no rips or tears. And it seems to repel dirt!! Some very minor cleanup for next year. Daughters want new ones for next year, of course...but these will most likely survive another year. Well worth the money!!
