Our school district doesn't allow rolling back packs, but I purchased this one for me!
When we go on a museum or zoo or other trip with mostly indoor or paved surfaces, this is the best solution for carrying camera, water canteens or lemonade jug, family's sunglasses, hats and a sweater. The straps tuck neatly away and are a snap to access and whip on. The handle is quite short, but manageable for a 5'3" adult, and the advantages of having wheels, well, you're not carrying your stuff around on your back, but can pop up and down a few flights of stairs without any trouble at all. Besides, the kids, aged 8 and 5, actually enjoy being "in charge" of the bag, whereas they would complain most bitterly if asked to carry supplies themselves. The bag itself is not too heavy (some wheeled briefcases and backpacks weigh 6-10 lbs emptly). It's a winner.
I bought this on a recommendation from a friend. My daughter was on her 3rd backpack for her kindergarten year. I was tired of wasting money on bags that would promptly break. This bag is fantastic! She is now in 2/3 through 1st grade & the bag still looks brand new! Thanks LL Bean!
Ordered this backpack for my 10 year old and very disappointed. It is quite small, didn't even fit my son's binder and lunch box. The handle is too short, he has to bend over to pull it. Was hoping this backpack would last for a few years but not sure if it will be big enough to hold more books Overall not impressed, may have to give this to my 6 year old.
