I bought this as an eco friendly radio to use at my barn. I enjoyed listening to it as I did my nightly horse chores. I bid all my equine family good night and left it tied to a shelf adjacent to where the horses roam in and out. The next day I found it mashed in the snowy mud outside the barn, the antenna ripped off, the nylon strap ripped off and ice caked inside the solar panel. I was quite upset. I figure one of my horses nearly has a prehensile lip so I blamed him. I managed to clean it up, purchase and attach another antenna and I still am able to use it. So when I say it took multiple lickings, I am being literal. The horses licked, stomped and bit it but they didn't tear it up. I highly recommened this product!
When the power is on it's my understanding there is suppose to be a green light. I sent the first one back thinking it was defective. The second one I received there is no green light either; only a red light. I've bought new batteries, energizers, and still no green light. However, it seems to be working fine and I will keep this one. I like the fact that I am able to receive a lot of stations on the AM and FM tuners and I get two weather stations; so I think it's doing it's job.
I was very disappointed that an AC adapter was not included. You have to call a 1-800 number to order the adapter. It costs an additional $9.95 plus shipping....my total was $16.90.
