I bought this as a gift for my father who "has everything". The next day a blizzard warning was in effect, and we all felt better knowing we had this radio on hand. I love the variety of (renewable) power sources. We had to read the manual to figure out some features, but then it was easy to use once we knew the basics.
Just received radio. Seems solid and functional. Problem - no power cord provided or sold at LL Bean. This radio will be great for power outages and out on the trail. If looking to use around the house during those times inbetween - plan on buying plenty of batteries, cranking 1 1/2 min for every 3-5 min play time, or hope you can leave in direct sunlight for 10 hrs to recharge the rechargable batteries that are included. DC cord w/ shipping and handling is ~$17 or 30%+ the cost of the radio. Rechargable batteries without a charger? Otherwise durable radio with great many useful functions. Email ll bean if you thought they should have had the option of the DC adapter/charger with initial purchase.
