We needed a quick solution to finding a reliable NOAA weather radio here in the tornado belt. This radio arrived just as we started a 10-day jag of watches and warnings for really severe weather. Reception ranged from fair (in the basement) to great (upstairs), but it did the trick. Compared to another NOAA weather radio we own, this one is far easier to use.
This is only a fair radio in terms of signal reception. In a fairly large metro area, only picked up the strongest stations among many. Station reception seemed very fuzzy on FM. As far as weather radio reception, found it would only pick up one of seven NOAA stations when every other weather radio I have will pick up at least two. For weather alert purposes, their are much better radios for the money. Radio unfortunately rattles if shaken and seems a little flimsy. Not up to par for LL Bean, IMHO.
