This was a gift for my son who loved it, as did his two little boys. We have family & friends impacted by the June 1 tornadoes in MA and this radio is a timely addition. Especially for children who experience similar trauma, it's a great proactive way to help them: get out the radio, set it up, crank it up, knowing that it's there if power goes off, even cell phone can be charged. Highly recommend it!

At first, I thought this would just be a weather radio with a hand crank generator. It had the addition of the LED lights (which won't burn out), but to my surprise, this has a solar panel, an AM/FM radio, but check this out: It has an Aux port to use as a speaker for my iphone! Furthermore, when the power goes off, I can charge my iphone with the USB charger!! I LOVE THIS THING! Thank you LL BEAN!!
Purchased this radio to replace another Eton Emergency Weather Radio that I had purchased from L.L. Bean 4 years ago. That one worked great until the antennae broke off at the hinge. I had great hopes for this new one until it arrived. I was greatly disappointed by the diminshed quality of the new radio and I returned it for a refund. Issues I had with the new radio included: 1. Poor ergonomic design of the crank across the front of the radio instead of to the side plus the crank itself was flimsy; 2. Difficult to read and poor accessibility of control buttons under the handle; 3. Lack of knobs with handles to select given bands, weather alert setting etc; 4. Flimsy overall construction---not nearly as sturdy as former radio from same company.
