Overall, I'm impressed with the quality of this boot. Followed advice and went one size smaller than my true size, which worked out well, but, they are really narrow. Should have ordered the wider width. Haven't decided whether to keep for my daughter, or return. Regardless, will need something wider for myself.
I live in southern California and will be going to school in the midwest, so I needed to buy winter clothing, boots, etc! After much debate between these boots and a different pair, I decided to go with these as they can keep your feet warmer at lower temps, and coming from someone who has seen snow only a few times, that was crucial!
I normally wear a size 8 in everything (flats, sandals, boots), but ordered a size 7 medium and they fit perfectly!
The laces are a little short, leaving the top hole unlaced, but that's not an issue for me. Also, the shearling lining seems to be very, very warm.
I gave these boots 4 stars instead of 5 only because I haven't actually worn them in winter weather yet so I don't know if they will be warm.
Overall, they definitely put a dent in my wallet but are stylish and so far seems to be a good buy. Thanks, LL Bean! :)
I wear a standard size 10 in every shoe brand. I ordered these first in a size 10, and they were absolutely enormous. Then, I ordered a size 9 and they are still just too large! Even wearing a very thick sock wouldn't make a difference. Very disappointed, but they have to go back.
I am a huge LL Bean fan, but the sizing on these just seems completely off to me. Otherwise, they look like a typically excellent LL Bean product.
Buying a pair for my sister before they sell out for the winter and felt like I should review while I'm here. I have had my shearling lined Bean Boots for 3 winters now, and I have to say they have been a complete lifesaver. From the frigid winters here in New York, to the 6+ feet of snow in Massachusetts, to skiing in Colorado and Vermont, they have come in handy all winter and I wouldn't buy another brand.
If there is ONE regret I have about these boots, it's that I should've ordered a size smaller. I'm usually between a 6.5-7, and I bought a 7. My feet feel really clunky in them and there's definitely a lot of room in the foot (even with thick wool socks on), so in hindsight I should've gotten a size 6, but these are still great. My sister is a 7.5 and I'm ordering her a size 7 also. So if you're contemplating what size to get, I would say size down for sure!!
