I received these boots in the mail yesterday (about a month before expected), and I am thrilled! First, the boot does appear to look a little different from the photograph, but that is to be expected since they are not being professionally styled in the box. Second, they are more comfortable than any other boot I have tried on. They are more open than the other popular shearling-lined boot, so your feet can breath inside, but you can also tight lace them AND they are waterproof! I've been wearing them only one morning, and have already received 2 compliments. It is snowy and icy in Kansas, and these are going to make my winter enjoyable.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I've had these boots for a year now, and they continue to thrill me. I looked for winter boots for a few years before I found these and I have not been disappointed. I live in Boston, where there is often snow and always slush -- waterproof and warm are both requirements, and these are perfect. I walk quite a bit (live in the city enough that I walk the kids to school and walk to run errands), and these have adequate support to allow me to cover a couple of miles comfortably. Not so with other boots I tried. I love that I can lace them up and let my pants cover them if I want to look like a serious work-bound adult, or can tuck in my jeans on a casual weekend. Today we are shoveling out of 14" and my feet stayed warm & dry the whole time, not to mention when sledding, etc. I can also cover a short distance without even tying them -- across the parking lot at a ski resort, or to & from the car when just dropping the kids somewhere. I loved my old Bean Boots in high school, but my feet always froze. These are perfect.
i had been doing a lot of research on winter boots because i want to make sure they're going to be comfortable and last a long time. i live in jersey and the snow we've been having the past few years is not conducive to sneakers, or motorcycle boots. sooooo, you can imagine my disappointment when i received these boots. i have a very narrow foot and high arch. i don't like "breaking" in ANY type of shoe. i could feel the immediate discomfort as soon as i put the boots on; on the top of my foot. that bone for some reason seems like it protrudes out more than it should, and gets in the way of comfort with these boots. I'm not especially into looks, but these were also quite chincy looking compared to the picture on the website.
I just received these boots as a gift, and didn't take them off after I tried them on because they are so comfortable!
These boots are soft and solid. The top isn't as soft as it appears pulled back in the photo above, at least not yet. But the lining is soft and isn't scratchy at all. The soles inside are thick and soft, too. I was worried that the waterproof bottom section would not be lined, but it is, and it's wonderful.
Like other reviewers said, these boots are large. I ordered down a size and they fit perfectly. They are also narrow, and as my feet are narrow as well, these boots hug nicely. The padding inside does give some, though, so regular width feet may fit nicely as well. They are also narrow at the top, so unless you plan to wear them rolled down, they may not fit larger calves comfortably.
I have yet to jump in puddles, so I can't speak to their waterproof abilities although they appear very well put together and I don't expect them to leak below the upper fabric. Do note that they will probably be only water resistant above where the tongue and laces begin.
I really like these boots and look forward to many winter hikes.
