After trying on lots of different boots, I bought these. I was disappointed they didn't have them at the store to try on, but one of the Bean employees said if the gumboat shoe fits, this will fit as well. So, I trusted him (he was a Bean employee, afterall) and ordered them online.
When I ordered them, I was disappointed because they weren't going to be delivered until around December 3rd. Well, on November 17th I received them!
Then I put them on my feet. Unlike other boots, the material around the calves fit mine, often it's too tight. The shoe fits just like the Bean employee said. They are comfortable and I love the shearling. Keep the bottom of my legs warm.
The only disappointing thing is...why is there no shearling in the foot area? I would think that would make an excellent boot even better - keeping the foot warmer.
Another nice feature, though I don't think I will use it, is you can tie the boot halfway to make it a smaller looking boot, but then the shearling is on the outside. I want the shearling on the inside.
I've already worn them in the show, keeping my feet dry. Thanks, Bean for making a great product, but do consider putting the shearling in the foot area.
These were as described, one size down fit perfectly. I am satisfied with everything about the product-except-the fold down shoe look. It is bulky, and does not lay flat. I hope that as I wear them, they will break in enough to look as they do on the site.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I love these boots wear with light or heavy socks, right size right on. we;ll see how they handle the snow but i am not worried about it, these are rated highly.

I LOVE my L.L. Bean Boots - the shearling lining makes them so cozy. These boots are L.L. Bean icons and I am SOOO excited to have a pair for the upcoming season (and MANY more seasons too if the durability experienced by my Dad with his favorite pair of Bean boots is any indication - 25 years and counting!) ... I have put together entire outfits around my new boots - think skirts, leggings and skinny jeans. Who says function can't be fashionable! They do run a tad big so sizing down may be key to getting the proper fit. I like the fact that these boots are made in Maine ensuring the high quality that L.L. Bean products are known for. How can one go wrong purchasing a product so steeped in history!
