wonderfully warm

they are so warm and comfortable. the only issue that I would raise is that there is little traction, but I already expected that from reading someone else's review. I would highly recommend them.

I want to buy these boots for everybody
PostedDecember 30, 2009
very comfortable, very warm. width is perfect and the soft sheep liner is amazing at keeping my feet warm (my feet are never warm!). I liked them so much I got a pair for my picky fiancee who only wears another USA-made work boot; never takes them off, however he has worn the Bean shearling laceup boots every day since his birthday two months ago. He is outdoors every day in the rain, sleet, rocks, timber, mud, cold, filthy stuff, loves these boots. the only complaint there is the one I noticed:his heel soles are already wearing down, (just two months?) so we are going to get taps put on his boots (mine are still good as new but I don't punish mine nearly as hard). I hope they make the shearling lined in a tall, waterproof lace-up style so I can wear them when it's cold and the unlined 14"/16" laceups I got 20+ years ago that I'm still wearing can stay in the summer bin. shearling beats heavy socks hands down!! bean boots are great in the mud, streams, desert and field, it almost feels like barefoot they way you can feel knots on a tree trunk, stones on a riverbed through the flexible sole but they are slippery on ice. I'm not sure that ice was ever a product claim! I popped on my metal boot chains I keep in the back seat yesterday and away I went, no big deal. buy 'em, you will love 'em.!! P.S. It does matter a LOT to a lot of us to buy good quality, USA-made products like L.L. Bean bean boots. Please keep making them here, in Maine, USA.

Shearling boots

Just moved from Phoenix so need some heavy weather gear. Sizing was perfect - I wear a 6 and a half shoe wide, and ordered a size 6 wide - perfect! I have used these in the snow and sleet and they keep my feet warm without heavy socks. Wore these laced to the top but instructions on how to fold other easy to follow.

Several years ago I purchased the tradional Maine Boot with thinsulate insulation (which I was wearing) and they did not keep my feet warm during winter activities. Therefore, I was looking for a replacement boot, that would live up to its claim, in terms of warmth and found an ideal product at LL Bean.
Last month I bought a pair of the 'new' 100% Shearling-lined boots and they keep my feet comfortably warm. You must have a pair of these boots!
I usually take a boot size in a 9.5 AA, when wearing heavy socks; however, half-sizes were unavailable in this boot, so I ordered a 10 AA. They are roomy, as one would expect, but the warmth level is second to none. These LL Bean Shearling boots, have met my objective.
