I never did get the "fold down" look to work, but it wasn't a deciding factor in my decision to choose these boots anyway. I followed the sizing advice, and they fit perfectly (although it was strange to receive 2 Bean boots in one order, these being size 9 and the others - not shearling lined were size 8). I've shoveled for hours and hours on end in them (it's been a never ending winter), and stayed completely dry and warm, and wearing inserts for my plantar fasciitis, had utter comfort the entire time. I do agree with some other reviews in that the laces should be a little longer. They are sufficiently long if you tuck pants in and tightly tie the boots up the entire way, but if you want a little looser fit or a little more give at the ankle, you don't have enough lace except to make the tiniest of ties with patient and dainty finger work. But, all in all, these are definite keepers and I'm very glad I got them.
Love the look of these boots. I wear a 6.5 to 7 so I ordered the 6. First try on I was so upset that they didn't fit, and I knew they were out of stock to reorder, so I tried them on again and for some weird reason after walking around they fit perfect :) They are great for any type of wet weather, snow, rain, and including too much time in hockey rinks. My son wears the same size as me and has tried to steal them many times,lol Great boot , worth every penny!
I ordered these late in the season for snow here in Kentucky. These boots were on back order and I considered cancelling my order, but reconsidered and thought they would be perfect for next winter...well we got 1/2" of ice and 6 " of snow in March and I am so glad I did not cancel my order. They arrived the day before the big storm and I was so excited to be able to wear them this year. I love love love them. 10 degrees, ice, snow and slush cannot keep me inside my house. My feet do not even think about getting cold or wet in these fantastic boots!! I normally wear a size 8 in running shoes . I got a size 7 in these boots and they fit perfectly.
