I bought these just in time for an ice storm we had. I was very happy! My feet havne't been this warm and dry in years!!! The size was perfect leaving enough from for a good pair of socks. I do wish that the tred gripped a little better but I would still say they have a good drib on ice when compared to any other boot I've bought.
I got these for Christmas because my Hunter rain boots aren't cutting it during the winter, even with fleece socks. These boots are warm and comfortable. I could wear them all day (and I have#. Now, if you are standing on ice for a long period of time #as I did once over vacation), your feet will get cold. But for wear on snow days and icy days, they are perfectly cozy. I got the black ones, by the way, and they look fantastic! I am a 7.5 ladies shoe so I ordered the size 7. Perfect fit.
These shoes are wonderful. They are warm, completely water-proof, and soft to touch due to lining. The leather itself is soft too - no pain around bending areas. The only regret I have is... that I followed some of the advice on size here. Since some said the fit is somewhat small, I chose 7 with wide. This was a mistake. My feet are swimming inside. I have to wear double socks in addition to Dr. Scholl's insole. If I could order again, I will choose size 6 with wide. If you have wide feet like mine, you'll be satisfied. The two things LL Bean could improve on these shoes are a insole with better cusion and longer shoe laces. However, I'm very satisfied. Thanks.
I was really excited about these boots but have just spent the day freezing my feet in them with two pairs of warm socks. I was standing outdoors in -14 Celsius and they really didn't keep my feet warm. I actually had to take them off to warm my feet up when I got in a warm vehicle. I really wouldn't recommend these as a winter boot. I am going to need to return them or buy some kind of felt liner for them to be usable.
