Love the look and feel of the 10" brown shearlIng lined LL Bean winter boot. My first pair of Bean boots I bought 20 years ago-the short pull on ones and I still have them! Needed taller boots as our NE weather has changed to a snowy tundra. These boots can even be turned down and laced to wear as a low boot when you aren't getting buried in snow. Well made and sturdy. These boots make winter a bit less fierce!!
I wanted to love this boot. I love shearling and good leather, I love Thinsulate, and I especially love genuine Made in America. But-- I need a tall lace-up boot I can tuck my pants in to keep my feet warm and dry in cold, snowy and wet winters, and this boot fails on two counts: no gusseted tongue, and two lace holes in the tongue. I am at a loss to understand the design of this boot-- do you really expect that customers are going to bend this heavy, stiff leather over to make a not-stylish cuff? It seems so, as the laces are too short to comfortably lace all the way up.
There are plenty of girly cuffed boots. I want a durable cold-weatherproof boot, not one with multiple openings for snow and wet. I was very sad to return this boot because it was otherwise perfect; a good fit, good traction and comfortable. I'm willing to pay a premium for made in America and top-quality, so if you ever produce this boot with a gusseted tongue and no holes in the tongue, I'll buy it.
I was looking for regular tan bean boots and ran across these on the sale rack. I am typically a size 7 and the boots were a 6 so I gave them a try and they are a PERFECT fit with room for thick socks. I have raynaud's syndrome and it makes me have really cold feet and hands. I went on a 4 mile hike (upstate NY October) with these two days ago and my feet were kept wonderfully warm and comfortable. They were awesome on any terrain and I wore them out to bars with friends last night. They look and feel awesome and with LLBean's return policy how can you NOT get these shoes. Amazing value, so happy with my purchase. Getting my mom a pair for Christmas!
I ordered the boots in brown and a half size smaller than my normal shoe size, and they still have enough room for a heavy sock. These boots are made well and should last many winters.
