I really love these boots. I followed Bean's advice to order down for half-sizes (I wear at least a 9 1/2 shoe, but in this boot, a 9 was perfect, even with a heavy sock.) The boot molds around my foot in a very supportive and comfortable way; the 10" top, when securely laced, provides further support for walking in deep snow or walking with snowshoes. The shearling lining is very soft and cushy. I look forward to putting on these boots every morning for my walks in the woods. I have absolutely no negative criticisms of this boot.
I have a very wide size 9 foot. I ordered an 8 wide (because I have a pair of BeanBoot shoes in that size that fit perfect) I LOVELOVELOVE these boots! Warm, perfect fit, and stylish! They are not to bulky at all. The only reasons I cant give these 5 stars is because 1 - the tounge needs to be sewn into the boot all the way. It has not given me a problem yet but for the price it should be gusseted. 2 - the seams inside joining the rubber foot to the leather shaft are a little rough. With socks they dont bother me at all but again - for the price they should be a little smoother. I still love these boots and feel like i've never truly owned a real winter boot until I got these!
Who would ever want anything else but a Bean boot for Maine or New England winters. I finally gave up my Bean boots that I have been wearing for 25+ years. There is nothing wrong with them and I will continue to wear them for shoveling, etc. but I decided this season that I was going to purchase a new pair 'just because'. Off winter I wear the LL Bean Kangaroo boot. It is great. I wear them for work and have been for years. So when I say there is no other choice who would want any boot besides a warm, sturdy, dry, fits well, and looks great boot???
