Having come to Boston from Florida I had no idea what type of shoes I would need. After going to a few hockey games and swearing I was getting frostbite in my plain leather boots, I knew it was time to search around. After reading many reviews on various sites and comparing LL Bean with Sorel boots and many others I went to the store to try them on. LL Bean was the less bulky and stylish pair...not to mention after many wears warm!!! The only complainst that i have are they are extremely large! I'm normally an 8 1/2 and ended up getting an 8. They are still quite big but since they are for cold weather I generally put on more than one pair of socks. Also hoping to get fleece insoles that might help the fit, but they were all out in the store and online. Overall very happy and they are all I've been wearing out!
I've always loved LLBean boots, but have a hard time finding the right fit. I finally got a pair that fits last winter, but after only a few wearings, the inner foot lining is already mangled. It does not stay in place well, and offers limited foot warmth and protection.
My other observation is that the laces shipped with the boot are far too short - I had to go out and buy longer laces in order to lace them to the top. For the price, I expect better attention to detail and quality.
