I got these boots to keep me dry then picked up a seasonal delivery job that required a lot of walking through sludge and rain. The boots were slightly long but fit perfectly with thick socks. They kept my feet warm and dry throughout the season.
These boots are excellent. They needed no breaking in time, and are super warm, waterproof and comfortable. I needed something to wear out with the kids and walking around the hilly streets of Barre, VT, and these more than fit the bill. The sizing is large, though. I ordered one size down, and they fit perfectly.
I bought these about a month ago. From the minute I put them on, they have been extremely comfortable. I walk my dog in a wooded area for 2.7 miles at least once everyday, in all weather. I wear inserts in all my other shoes due to a propensity for heel spurs. I do not wear them with these boots and have had no trouble at all. Love them- Not only comfortable in fit; they are truly warm and water proof as well. I usually wear size 9.5 or 10 and I bought size 9 b/c of the other reviews. I wear them with thick socks. Worth the $
I LOVE my old uninsulated Bean boots that I got in college before they offered anything more than a wool insert for winter warmth...they kept my feet dry all year round. Since I LOVE my shearling slippers I thought the new Bean boots lined with shearling would be a perfect boot...soft, waterproof & comfortable... this version of the boot does NOT have a gusseted tongue. It is only stitched up a little ways, thus allowing it to be rolled down as an option. So, when you step into snow deeper than 3-4", the snow comes in behind the tongue since it's simply laced up with no gusset behind it to keep the snow out. VERY DISAPPOINTING, especially for the price. They are, however, comfortable if you don't have to walk in deep snow or water. This should clearly be noted in the description of the boots in the catalog/website. Not a good match for Vermont!!
