Narrow width snow boots
PostedFebruary 9, 2012
ProsDurable, Great Value, Performing as Expected
These apparently are the only women's snow boots in the entier US that come in a AA width. I could not find any others. Although they are very, very stiff, I'm sure they will work out fine for me as soon as I break them in.

LLBean Boots

ProsDurable
First, quality of the boots is awesome. So glad to see something being made in the US again,,,it is always a noticeable difference.
I am 48 yrs old, 5'10". I normally wear a 10 WIDE business shoe so I ordered down to 9 as per instructions. Boots are snug. me toes right up to front which should not be for an activity shoe.
AND, the wide is not wide enough in the forefoot. I have fred flintstone shaped forefoot, squared off toes, I don't have that triangle shaped foot in which second toe looks like a finger. So, the shape of forefoot of the boot is cut in and angled more for those strange triangle feet. would much prefer forefoot to be left as rounded only at end,,,not cut in. this cut in narrows forefoot too much and once again, my little toes scrunched. I have mortens neuromas in forefeet due to too many women's shoes made ridiculously too narrow. Please make the wide boot, actually wide. would much prefer to have some toe breathing room which will also help in keeping them warmer.
Third. Lose the slight heel. This makes for shortened achilles, and shorter steps, just not comfortable (unless you are a female who is used to wearing heels 24/7) and not necessary for an outdoor shoe in which I want to walk in and use. The heel lift also makes for less of a stable platform for ankle in back. make the boot all on same plane.
If you're moving your feet will stay warm. No problem shovelling snow in them, they are def water proof. If you're sitting at a football game in them, your toes will not stay warm.
It is a good quality boot, but I would work on making the boot comfortable and address above. want them to be good comfy boots I can walk several miles in,,,,wider forefoot, and lose that heel.

Run too big
PostedFebruary 5, 2012
ProsDurable, Great Value, Performing as Expected
My last pair of Bean boots lasted more than 10 years. I wanted to upgrade to a warm, shearling lined pair. They are beautifully made and look great but run way too big. I usually wear a size 6. I added an additional shearing insole and they are still a little big. I had to decrease the rating to 2 stars because of the sizing, otherwise it would have been 4-5 stars. I wish LLBean would make a size 5.

A Good Value
PostedFebruary 1, 2012
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I liked the boots. And, am glad I checked the reviews. There was a lot of info on the sizing. I wear an 8 1/2 to a 9 and ordered an 8. And, am glad I did. They fit perfectly. The arch support is good and the wool lining is fine. The leather upper is pretty stiff but plan to start oiling it to soften it up.....
