I got these boots for the Boston winter, and while it hasn't snowed yet, I'm sure that they will keep my feet warm and dry once it does. I wore them on an icy/muddy/snowy hike and my feet were warm and dry the whole time. They definitely run big-order a size down from what you normally wear. I usually wear an 8, but had to exchange that for a 7. The 7 fits great.
First let me say I love llbean and have enjoyed shopping their quality products for many many years. I love that these boots are made right here by American workers.
Now about this boot. First the boot looks nothing like the photo above. The leather doesn't look as dark as the photo, and the fleece is yellow in color on the actual boot compared to the natural shearling color in the photo. Second, they look very thick and bulky when laced up. Third, I wonder since the tongue gusset only connects to the boot at the second eyelet if they really will keep the moisture out if I were to step off the curb into a slushy winter puddle. These may not be the best city winter weather walking boots because of that. I love the gusset on the original hunting boots tongue for that very reason. I just ordered the original hunting boot with the gortex. This might be a better NYC winter weather boot for me.
