These are so comfy! Like most reviews say to I bought a size down; I am so glad I did. They fit with thick wool socks or without. After getting them my sister was convinced to get herself a pair. Worth every penny.
These boots are cute but do run big if you want just a mid weight sock. They are not shearling lined in the bottom of the foot so I returned mine. I am looking for more of a fully shearling lined boot including the foot bed since my feet really freeze in the extreme cold weather.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I am so thrilled with these boots. I recently moved from California to Boston and am getting ready to face my first New England winter. I feel very prepared with these boots. I initially ordered the very tall shearling boots from the L.L. Bean Signature line, but decided they were too cumbersome and turned to these instead. (They were also twice as expensive as these--yikes!)
I definitely agree with those reviewers who say to size down. I am a true size 7 and ordered the size 6, and they fit great with plenty of room for a thickish sock. At first I was really worried that the calf was too snug for me--I don't have especially large calves but by the time I got a thickish sock and my pants tucked in I couldn't even get them close to laced up! The leather was quite stiff. But after wearing them around for a day they have loosened up really nicely and the shearling has packed down a bit. I can now get them on and off with no problem. I am relieved, as I loved everything else about these boots.
I haven't had a chance to try them in real cold weather yet, but I just stomped around in a rain storm and was dry and toasty despite several substantial puddles.
So to those worried about the calf tightness, give them a chance to break in! I am very very pleased with these boots and would definitely recommend them.
