for years i have been looking for a serious winter boot in a wide width. thank you LL Bean! i usually wear a 71/2W, i ordered a 7W based on other reviewers and it is perfect. i haven't had a chance to test them against the elements as winter hasn't really kicked in yet, but i'm expecting a forecast of warm toes all winter:)
I bought these to carry me through my first real winter after a decade of living in California. In those ten years, I got pretty sensitive to the cold, especially in my hands and feet, so I need something both waterproof and warm.
These boots definitely fit the bill! The weather is only just starting to get a little chilly, so I haven't used them in snow yet, but I can comment on how warm they are. After a few minutes of wearing them around my cold house, my feet were very toasty and very comfortable. I think they will work marvelously when the colder weather comes!
A note about sizing: I wear a 9 to 9.5 normally, and was really worried that I would have to order as low as an 8, based on the comments about how large these run. However, I decided to just order a half size down and get a 9, and I'm so glad I did! They fit pretty perfectly, and could even be considered snug if I were to double up on socks. However, with a good nice sock, anywhere from light- to heavy-weight, the 9s are a perfect fit! I would consider these boots to be true to size, or perhaps just slightly large.
I love my new boots! I had read in the reviews that they ran a bit big so I ordered a size down and they are a perfect fit! I ordered the narrow since I have relatively narrow feet and the fit is great! I like that the boots don't look wide and bulky on my feet. The sherpa lining makes the boots super cozy with or without socks. I have worn them so far on cool, wet days. Winter is fast approaching so I look forward to wearing these every day when I'm out in the weather!
Plenty more room to lace all the way up, I just chose not to!

I am so thrilled about these boots. I was very nervous about the sizing issue and I was certain I'd have to exchange them. Luckily I followed the advice of other reviewers and went down in size and ordered a 7 (I am always an 8 1/2). They fit perfectly. Maybe if I wore very thick socks they would be snug, but the good thing is that there is a removable foam footbed that, when once removed, allows for a little more wiggle room. (Though you loose some of the comfortable support that way). If you wear a 9 I would go to a size 8. A few things that I am a little disappointed in is the color and there's a bump on the inside where the first eyelet is at the bottom of the tongue. It seems like that is a construction error since it is only on one boot. It seems to rub the top of my foot, but the issue can be lessened when either I tie the laces a little looser, or remove the foam footbed. As far as the color is concerned, I don't mind it at all... but I was hoping for a product that resembled the first picture when you view the boot online. (more of a washed out deep brown color) The other pictures show the actual chocolate brown color that the boot really is. I figured the first image wasn't very accurate since a lot of reviewers commented on how the lining was more yellow than they thought it would be. They are still great boots and I look forward to wearing them for many, many years!
