I bought this bag six months ago, and use it constantly. I have never had a problem with the buckle. I use it for everything: grad school, clinical rotations, work, carry-on bag, it's perfect for everything. It's been through a lot in six months and still looks great. I get lots of compliments! Love it!
Amazing bag, well made, durable, quality leather. The clasp does come unhooked some times but not a big deal, simply re-hook it. This bag ages very well, and I plan to have it for many more years. I have had it now for one year with daily use and it still looks great. Great buy.
I purchase the black messenger bag in fall 2010. I ruined 3 pairs of pants from the black marks rubbing off the bag. LL Bean replaced all three pairs of pants and I returned the bag for a full refund. I am disappointed the black mark issue continues to be a problem. I would like to order another bag but I am concerned the black mark issue is not resolved. Outstanding customer service from LL Bean and a quality bag with the exception of the dye issue.
I have this bag in brown and love it, and I recently got in black. The hardware on the black bag is silver, not brass as shown in photo. The black bag had a clasp that did not stay closed, but I received a replacement with a clasp that works well. I've noticed that the new black bag is leaving black stains where it comes in contact with my pants, near the pants pocket... has anyone else experienced this, and is there a remedy? Perhaps this goes away when the bag isn't so new? Otherwise, I love this bag.
