I'm a little disappointed with my bag because it's a little smaller than I imagined. However, I should have paid more careful attention to the measurements LL Bean had provided. So it's my fault. Otherwise, it's a great bag--strong and professional at the same time.
I bought this bag to use traveling on airlines. The bag is pretty heavy, but I thought that would mean tough. I used it, but found one problem that caused me to return it. The closure on the flap would easily come undone, particularly when I would put it under the sear in front of me on the aircraft. The closure seems cheap, especially as compared to the rest of the bag, which is well-made. I was too worried about losing things, and I returned the bag. If you are not going to use it on the plane, it would probably be okay.
I have always wanted this bag and before I purchased it, I read all the reviews hoping for the best. The bag was much smaller than I imagined and the clasp does not stay closed (If this is not a new problem, I dont understand why it has not been corrected). This was my first order from LL and may be my last...they have the highest reputation for quality products but the "clasp" just ruins it for me.
I use mine for travel and daily business, and have given one as a gift to a student. The leather is subtle and of good quality. The craftsmanship is as good as anything from L.L.Bean. Many useful and well designed pockets, with zippers in all the right places. Can hold an amazing amount of stuff - computer, books, files, water, snacks, and still looks good.
