Have worn LL Bean fleece for years, but this year they have changed the fabric - only has fleece on the outside, now has slick polyester on the inside, which is scratchy and the thread they now use for stitching is scratchy also. Why buy fleece if you can't feel it next to your skin?? They have done the same thing with the men's fleece, too. Guess I will have to go to another company for my fleece -very disappointed in LL Bean!
Sigh. I have worn these tops for years because they are warm without weight and come in a variety of nice colors. But lately the fabric has changed: instead of double-faced fleece, the inside is flat, slippery stuff that does not feel warm against the skin like the former fabric. It pills like crazy and after a few wearings-and-washings, the inner fabric becomes roughened and is a bit uncomfortable against the skin. Obviously this is cheap stuff - though the cost of the garment increases. Once upon a time, the fabric was "Genuine Polarfleece". I'd pay for a quality product, but will buy no more of these from LL Bean until that happens. Please - bring back the good stuff!
This is my go to fleece. I have at least 12 of them in different colors. I wear them year round. My most recent purchase arrived today. The inside of the fleece is not like fleecy and soft like the outside anymore it is like a smooth backing that feels cold against the skin. I would still recommend the fleece because it is very handy to have to layer for going out on a chilly day or after a work out but I liked the old fleece better. The quarter zip styling is great. I'd like to see some traditional sweaters in a quarter zip. I got a Large which is my normal sizing in this and it feels a bit too big. The arms are a bit long too. I will keep though because I will be wearing layers under it. Grey color is nice.
