The quality of these shirts is poor compared to fleece quarter zips of the past (And what happened to the pullover fleece and the activewear style?). They are thin, and the zipper on the arm has no use other than decoration. They don't last long without pilling. If you're not counting on them to keep you warm and comfortable in the outdoors, this is for you. I'm definitely disappointed to see LLBean go in this direction. I rarely write reviews for what that is worth.
During the past several years, I have ordered and been pleased with the fitness fleeces I received from LLBean. However, this time I was not. The colors were lovely and touching the outside of the fleece was very nice and felt almost like stroking velvet. What I didn't like was the feel of the inside of garment next to my skin. It was not soft and warm like the outside, but felt uncozy and cool. My own preference would've been to have the inside and outside reversed so that the outside (velvety soft, warm fleece) was against my skin. I'm sure the workmanship was fine and I liked the colors I ordered, but didn't not like the "feel" of the garments when I tried them on. So returned them.
I have always loved this article of clothing for any time of year. The fabric weight is perfect over any knit or cotton shirt and the zipper closing makes cozy covering near neck so much easier. I have many of this style in so many colors to coordinate with all my mock & turtle necks as well as long sleeve crew neck tops.
