I bought these sheets because they were rated a best buy in a leading consumer magazine, the flat sheet was ample size which is not always the case, and they didn't come in sets.
The magazine rated the fit very good, which is probably generous. The fitted sheet fits rumbled and cannot be flattened out by hand.
The fitted sheet has elastic all around, as opposed to just the sides, which makes it much more difficult to find either end of the sheet for making your bed.
As mentioned in another review, the sheets are not smooth and somewhat rough.
The sheets do seem to be very well constructed and should last for years.
These are my favorite sheets ~ I have another set from LL Bean which used to be my fav, but now are in 2nd place. The flowers are so colorful, bright and pretty. The sheets have a soft, yet crisp feel to them. Highly recommend.
With the excellent reviews and the percale description, I was expecting crisp, thick, sheets even though 280 thread count is not a huge number. Anyway, the sheets are not as thick or crisp as I had been hoping for, and I prefer my other sheets (800- 1000 threadcount) EXCEPT that the llbean sheets fit my oversized mattress better than any sheets I have ever owned, and they also are generously sized. This is a big deal and keeps them on my bed, but not enough for me to outfit the rest of my beds with these sheets. I would like to see a sheet thick like hotel quality and still oversized.
I find the new satin-finished sheets too slippery and the very high thread count sheets too soft. This crisp and substantial percale feels terrific - just what sheets ought to be. "Soft" can be nice, but the current vogue for it has taken over like an invasive species, virtually wiping out all other tactile experiences! I'm disappointed that you no longer have the Bay Green, which goes so perfectly with my new duvet cover; I only have the pillow cases, otherwise use white. Bring it back!
