I really don't understand the complaints about these percale sheets and pillowcases: they are completely soft and they maintain a coolness that I really like. They are also absolutely beautiful on the bed, and I have mixed and matched some of the other blue/white bedding items for a look I really love. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I know a smooth firm percale when I feel it. When I opened the sheets and pillowcases I was dubious that they would remain CRISP wash after wash as they seemed a bit too silky and smooth. I had purchased these percale hoping they would be the same high quality sheets LLBean has offered for years and years. One wash later and I have limp, flabby sheets. The lint produced in the dryer proved these sheets were not woven with thicker higher ply fiber content. Was the cotton thread produced in the USA? I bet not. Some folks may want rumply, frumpy beds, but I long for the crisp smooth sheets of yesteryear. Does anybody make them any more? I do not even mind ironing them, if they would only have a crisp, firm finish. I guess I will have to starch these new ones to get the bed linens I expected.
the sheets are great. love the fabric, feel, and fit. Pillow cases are too small. Can barely get pillow into case. End of pillow sticking out by morning. Have used and washed so can't exchange for larger ones. Never had this problem before.
Having had wonderful LL Bean percale pillowcases in the past, I was terribly disappointed in this very low quality product. Very thin material, nubby and rough to the touch. Not at all crisp, not smooth, I returned them and as usual LLBean refunded promptly. But what a loss! Where will I find those wonderful pillowcases and sheets that they sold some years ago? .
