I find it surprising that a lot of people have said that this clock does not illuminate. It is charged by the sun, so face it towards the window! Mine works great. If you aren't satisfied with the item, return it! LL Bean has the best return policy ever.
Bought this on sale at the outlet store, but still is not worth the money. How can LL Bean sell an alarm clock that isn't illuminated at night? Sometimes the hands illuminate very dimly, but not the clock face, so you still can not tell the time. The alarm is hard to set, and you need to remove 2 screws to just change the battery! This clock would be best placed in a den or kitchen, where you don't need to tell time in the dark and you don't use the alarm function. There are much better clocks out there for use as a bedroom alarm clock. Too bad, since it is an attractive clock. But, a pretty face isn't everything . . .
I purchased the antique white clock about 2 years ago. It continues to work well, including the alarm. I love the look of this clock and the sound of the alarm. It easily wakes me up. At first, I didn't like the no snooze button feature, but it has become helpful not to have it as I know that I must get up when it goes off. The knobs are a little tight, but I have small fingers, so that has not been a problem. The hands on my clock are still glowing in the dark even after 2 years. I really love this clock and would purchase another one!
I got this clock for my son's room. I wanted him to have a regular clock besides his digital one so he could start learning how to tell time. It is a nice color(we ordered the green one) and the face of the clock is nice and large. We also use the alarm on school mornings. However,it does not glow in the dark or is illuminated as it advertises. It is just such a great looking clock and if the power should go out we will still have a working clock in the house. His room is is blue and yellow and this green goes well with those colors.
