I like a bit of nostalgia and I purchased the red version for a guest bathroom. I was happy to find the color is very much like a fire engine red.
This clock is a solid, heavy and a little like a large piece of machinery. There is nothing "tinny" about this clock. The alarm sounds similar to a kitchen electric timer and sounds off in a quick series of beeps. The 'second' hand counts off the seconds in jumps similar to a chronograph rather than a 'sweep' motion.
I am very pleased with the clock and am considering giving several away as gifts. I have had it for a month but due to it's location we have never needed to read the dial or use the alarm in the dark.
Some reviewers complained that this clock has a noisy tick. Mine doesn't make a sound. It's large and readable and it's nostalgic look and color (green) pleases me. I knocked it off the bedside table a while ago yet it still works. I never use the alarm feature because I am able to awake on my own.
I just received my order (the antique white one) and love this vintage-looking clock, but be aware that it is a bit bigger in person than it appears in the photo. It's about 5.5 inches tall and wide. It's probably perfect for some, we just happen to have really small nightstands. Also, I thought that the rim around the clock's face and along the bottom were silver, but they're actually gold, which I'm not crazy about because I have silver lamps on our nightstands. The antique white is more of a beige color. I'm kind of wishing that I had gotten the green or nickel and may exchange it. It would be nice if the button to turn the alarm on and off were on the top instead of at the back of the clock. Overall, it's a great looking vintage clock.
