I just loved this coat. I saw a lady with the same jacket, we chatted about the color, warmth, etc. I decided to order one. Sad to say, a medium was huge, and the color was a different purple than the one she was wearing. Hers was more of a light orchid color, the one I received was much darker, more of a periwinkle almost. Had to return, This was my first item from LL Bean, The quality was great, as expected. Next time I would order a size small. All in all, it was a great coat, just didn't like the color, not vibrant, it was drab...............
I wanted a coat that was very warm, stylish, faux fur trimmed, not too long to make riding in the car uncomfortable, and filled with real down. This coat was all of the above easily(more on the warmness below). Not too bulky, stylish and a lovely color (I ordered brown).
LL Bean tends to run larger, so I ordered a size smaller than my regular size small: extra small. It fit perfectly. Unless you wear very bulky sweaters, I recommend one size down from your regular size.
Personally: I would have given this item five stars however I noticed a small amount of the feathers are beginning to peek through the coat. This is typical of down coats over time. I think the coat IS very warm although I question if it is sub-zero warm. I get cold easily so for others, it may be just as warm as advertised.
I ordered this jacket for a light winter coat. I love it! Its warm and fits great. I highly recommend this jacket for any woman not wanting a bulky winter jacket. Thanks for another great product from l l bean..
The jacket is a nice fit for me. I am not a typical, hour-glass sized woman. I love that the jacket has cuffs in the sleeves to help ward out the cold and wind. The hood is rather large, but not too large when worn and really helps to keep you warm. The length is optimal to keep your backside warm, too. The jacket looked bulky and heavy to me on-line but it is rather lightweight. It is extremely comfortable for me to wear. I generally do not wear jackets and coats as they are bulky and cumbersome and seem to get in my way. However, I needed something to ward off the extreme temperatures and wind in the Pennsylvania winter and this has been a perfect choice. I wish it came in more color choices.
