I ordered this jacket in black xs petite. I tried it for a day or two and noticed that it did keep me very warm in 30-40 degree weather; however, the bottom opening is just too wide for my body type. Cold air travels up through that opening, and the extra width at the bottom made the jacket appear unflattering on me. I was bummed because I like the style, the sleeves were perfect length, the price was affordable, and the jacket kept me warm. I had to return it and recently ordered a black 3/4 length coat. I hope this new one suits me better.

I recently wore this coat snowshoeing and skiing and I felt it was nice and warm. I like the hood a lot- including the faux fur trim- though I removed the trim so it wouldn't obstruct my vision skiing. The hood velcros at the chin and keeps your neck and your chin warm if needed. As other reviewers noted, there is no elastic or drawstring at the bottom but this didn't bother me. I was worried also that some reviews did not find the jacket to be warm enough but it has been fine for me with a sweater underneath. I ordered a small to leave room for a sweater but had to return for an xs (usually my LLBean size) as small was too loose. Overall, this jacket is very soft and light and cute though I would like a little more feminine shape to it.

I purchased this coat for my daughter. It is very warm, and very pretty. The color is just beautiful. I have purchased Bean's washable down coats for mysef and 3 of my children now, and I love them. They wash up so nicely!
