This coat (and matching mittens) are an exceptional buy. I wore both in weather that was barely above zero and had a wind chill below zero and I stayed very comfortable. The knit cuff in the sleeves keeps the cold out along with the mittens. It zips up around your neck so I didn't really even need a scarf. The coat is very lightweight and packs very neatly in a suitcase, without taking up very much room. It does not wrinkle when packed. As warm as this coat is, I can only imagine how much warmer the llonger length coats would be. Worth every penny. I normally wear a large to xlarge and I ordered the xlarge coat. I had plenty of room to layer underneath (even a hooded sweatshirt) and I did not feel bound up, very roomy and comfortable.
The coat was warm and I loved the rapsberry color, but it was huge on me. This is the second coat I have had to return in 30 days due to size issues. I have re-ordered in petite large and hope that one does the trick. I normally wear a large in fleece jackets and a medium to large in t-shirts, depending on the cut. I figured that ordering the same size as a fleece jacket in outwear would assure a good fit, especially since the bust measurement is exactly my own. Wrong! The overall fit engulfed me -- the sleeves were too long, the back measurement was too long, and the rest was too loose as well, with no way to adjust the sweep. And this was with a tee and a sweatshirt under the jacket. If the same jacket in a petite is too big, then I will have to give up and find an outerwear jacket somewhere else.

Simply the best! I never made orders from L.L.Bean and recently, decided to make one. I saw this blue jacket in the catalog and I really liked the color. This winter I wanted to bring bright colors into my wardrobe and I decided to get this jacket precisely because of the gorgeous color. However, my main concern was if the color in real life will be the same as on the website picture. Not enough words to describe my happiness when it arrived: the color was exactly as seen on the picture, plus, my order arrived so fast that it actually doubled my joy! Love the color, quality and it is really warm - I feel great even at -4C! Isn't that amazing?! Thank you, L.L.Bean!

This is my very first purchase from LLbean and I absolutly love this jacket. It fits me perfect!! actually on me it fits and looks exactly like the model in the picture for this jacket. I am 5"6 and about 137lbs. I ordered a medium which is the size i always buy for any tops and sweaters i get so i would say order true to size. LLbean made this one just right! i am so excited about it. It's sooo soft and comfy like you have a down blanket wrapped around you. I called up my sis right away and said "if you dont already have a good jacket for the cold, buy the LLbean ultrawarm jacket."
