This jacket is very vell constructed and comfortable but it is not near as warm as I expected it to be. It is plenty roomy so I have worn a fleece lined hoodie underneath. I like that it has a hood which can be removed if desired.
This jacket is soft, smooth, and snug without being bulky. I love to zip into it and venture out with my dog on a cold, windy, winter day. The hood, if needed, shields you from blustery gusts. The neck opening can also lie flat, away from your face for ordinary cold weather.
This is probably the warmest jacket I have ever owned. I use it to walk my Siberian Husky 2+ miles a day, every day of the year. I layer fleece underneath when we go out in snowstorm, and I have NEVER been cold. That said, it is not a flattering jacket--the fit is very boxy--but it serves it's purpose well. The only complaint I have is that the "faux fur" collar is not faux fur at all--I'm not sure what it's made of, but after washing, it bunches up and is actually scratchy to the touch. I wish Bean would put a nicer, "real" faux fur collar on this jacket. It does zip off, but I hesitate to do that because it does prevent wind from hitting my face in a snowstorm.
I received my jacket just today, wore it walking my dogs this evening, and it is the first perfect jacket I have ever owned. Not too long, not too short, no cold air comes up the sleeves or in at the neck. The raspberry color that I was a bit doubtful about, is very attractive. I am glad that you can easily zip off the fur strip, not to my taste. It was windy, 34 degrees, and I was perfectly comfortable. Lightweight, and washable! I am very pleased.
