I love this coat. The hood is alittle big and does ingulf your face. But living in Buffalo with our cold winters thats just fine. This coat is light weight but very very warm. I am going to buy another one in a diffrent color. I have this in white and LOVE IT!!! It falls just over your bottom and fits true to size. I cant say enough great things about this coat. I washed it last season and it washes beautifully. After wearing it for the whole season last year and a few washings it still looks brand new. I hope LLbean never discontinues this jacket because it a great jacket.
I bought this jacket for my wife last winter and she absolutely loves it! We visited my father for Christmas and my step mother and step sister tried it on and loved it so much, they each bought one as well. Same thing with two of her coworkers! Very nice looking; very feminine. And obviously the warmth provided by down is practically unbeatable! For women who don't want to be weighed down by wool, down is the way to go!!
I found this jacket to be made of sturdy material and very handy for un-predictable MN fall and winter weather. I like that I can zip on and off the fur trim, so if I feel like wearing it I can, but usually I leave it off because I like it better that way. Coat washed well, keeps me warm and comfortable all winter, and fits great.
A plus you can't see in the photos -- the cuffs are lined with fleece to keep out the wind.
The only problem I have with this coat is the hood; the faux fur edge is just too big for my liking. It completely swallowed my head and looked rather silly.
Luckily, the fur part is removable, but when you remove the edging, the remaining hood is sort of small -- it always felt like it wasn't reaching the front of my head.
If you aren't counting on using the hood a lot, though, this is a really nice jacket.
