The comfort of this item is found from the moment you get it out of its package. The material is good, the fit is excellent; the warmth that provides is very good.
I'm very pleased with this purchase. I ordered the medium and it fits perfectly on my 5 ft., slender frame - not too snug; not boxy. The regular length is just right for covering below the hip area. Since purchase, I have since worn the jacket twice in frigid temperatures and it's very warm without being stifling. Though lightweight, the jacket does the job! I find it attractive in the chocolate brown, and love the fur trim on the hood.
For having purchased the ultrawarm jacket at the end of the season, it came in handy. It will be my go-to jacket next winter during New England's harsh, blustery season.
I've been looking and looking for the "perfect" jacket this winter. I ordered online simply because I didn't realize that there is an LLBean store very close to where I live. I wore the jacket out for the first time on a day that was windy and only 4 degrees and stayed fairly warm although I found that the wind was blowing up through the bottom of the jacket. This jacket isn't fitted at all in the body and I noticed that as I was walking the fabric started to twist around my torso. Driving in this jacket was even worse and there is no way to adjust the bottom or waist-line of the coat. I've had jackets in the past that have restricted my movement but this one seems to move on its own. Just as a frame of reference, I'm 5'7", 135 lbs, with narrow hips and I ordered a small. I couldn't wear the jacket any smaller because then it wouldn't fit in the arms/shoulders. I'm very disappointed because it really is a nice jacket and would probably work well on someone with a curvy figure or a larger stomach.
When my jacket first arrived, it felt very big. I have always ordered a medium with all my LLBean coats, but this was huge! I went out to walk my dog during our blizzard, and the wind went right up my back. I froze! I reordered the coat in a size small, it came, fit better, but still wasn't what I have come to expect from LLBean. It did not feel heavy enough and when I went out again in the snow, it was still not warm enough, I sent both back and will wait until next season to buy the Baxter state parka. That's more money, but looks much warmer!
