This coat provides comfort against the harsh Wisconsin winter without a doubt. It's a nice enough looking coat even if its only fashion statement is "it's really cold outside". My wife (a size 2 petite) found the missus' x-small to fit very loosely around the midsection. For this reason we considered returning it, but ultimately its warmth and comfort made it a keeper.
I had purchased this jacket after returning one to LL Bean that just wasn't warm enough, even for our Southern California mountains. I bought this one to replace it -- and it's a keeper! It's nice and warm, whether I wear another layer underneath it or not. In one of the previous reviews a buyer said feathers kept escaping but I don't find that's a problem with mine. With LL Bean's generous return policy she should think about exchanging it for another because I think she just got a lemon. I highly recommend this comfy jacket.
This jacket has been put to the test this winter as we have had one winter storm after another. It has kept me warm and dry while shoveling. It fits true to size, for me. It's not "poofy" and keeps me very warm. I like that the fur comes off so it does not get wet when it's snowing, yet makes the jacket fashionable for wearing to work.
Bamboozled... it's not what I expected from LLBean

I purchased this coat 1 1/2 months ago just as frigid temps arrived here in S.E. Pennsylvania. I am a commuter and my walk to the train is a lengthy one. I found this coat and love the idea of the hood and the warmth ratings. Unfortunately, this is not a very warm coat. The air blows right in at the seam of the sleeves so you can feel the breeze along the back of the shoulders and armpit. If you want warmth, layer with this coat. Also, the zipper is a challenge and gets caught in the fabric A LOT! The bottom zipper, works when it wants to and never when you're in a hurry. I had the coat for less than a month and one of the buttons, to fasten the hood to the coat popped off. The fabric is soft (which is why, I guess, it gets caught in the zipper) and the hood has really been my favorite feature of the coat.
