I've tested this jacket on three cold days so far, and found it warm enough in a -18'F wind chill, wearing a cotton long-sleeved turtleneck and wool sweater vest underneath it. I wanted a lightweight down jacket that's easy to put on and take off, and so far, it's working for me. The zipper seems better than average, so I don't struggle with it as I do with many other garments.
Features I wonder about, in terms of durability include: - fabric that feels thin and fragile, that's already leaking some down - cuffs made from fleece vs. knit cuff fabric
Features I'd like to see that I think would improve the jacket: - velcro instead of snaps down the front placket - an additional interior pocket that could hold a wallet, ID, etc.
When I got the package, I thought I was going to be very disappointed. It was small and very light. But I was wrong. This coat is very warm and cozy. I am delighted.
I bought the Paper White jacket because it looks dressy-casual and thus suitable for work and play. It is also keeps me warm at 45 degrees F, with moderate wind (average temp. for So. Calif winter) and without a sweater. I am 5'1" and 150 lbs. I bought both the XL Petite and the L Regular, because I wasn't sure of the fit. The XL Petite was huge and boxy looking (not at all flattering). The L Regular fits much better, even with a sweater, (of course the sleeves are a little long) and looks much better on me. So I kept the Large R and returned the XL Petite. The jacket is reasonably light weight, as you'd expect from down, but doesn't squish down to a size that could easily be stuffed into a day-pack or suitcase pocket. Otherwise, for the purpose I bought it, it's perfect.
