I was able to really test this coat out this past week when temps dropped into the low 20's and teens, and it was great. I was outside for around 30 minutes and never felt cold, I haven't had the chance to test it out on longer periods of time. I love that it's really light and not bulky but still very warm. The hood is very large and really covers my whole head and face, which is great for when the snow really starts blowing! My only negative is the color is really very purple, I thought it would have been more of a wine but it's not. It's not offensive enough to return, I really don't like the other color options anyway.
This is the lightest, warmest, coat I have ever had. It even blocks the cold wind which is very important to me since I suffer from fibromyalgia. I absolutely love the spruce color. Most importantly it doesn't hurt to wear it.
Bought this for my daugter. Being able to buy any clothing in Petite XS is a huge plus. When it looks good, feels good, fits good and is well made, it is great. Don't know how warm it will be but coming from Bean, I am not too concerned about performance.
I have bought many coats and jackets from llbean. Almost always I have been very pleased. Not with this jacket. It does not have any shape. Perhaps inside tie cords would have helped. However, the biggest problem is the hood. It is too big and falls too far over my face. The faux fur adds to this problem and unfortunately can not be zippered off. The green color is lovely but I had to return this item.
