My daughter LOVES this coat. It's lightweight yet super warm. We went a size up to accommodate the bulky sweatshirts she likes to wear and it's a perfect fit!!
First I must say that I won't know if it is really ultrawarm until the temperature drops below 0 degrees F. I ordered a small and extra small and found that the body was way to big in the small, especially since there is no drawcord to snug it up, so I sent that one back. The XS is plenty big, even with a heavy sweater underneath, but could be just a bit (1 - 2 in.) longer. I like the inner cuffs to keep drafts out of the sleeves and the location/style of the pockets. I think I'll usually wear it without the furry trim on the hood which just wants to poke me in the eyes.
I bought this well in advance of winter since I missed getting my size last year in a new parka. I have read other reviews noting the boxy shaping of this parka and that's just exactly why I bought the parka. I need a fuller, more boxy style so that I can wear extra layers under the coat. I also like to have plenty of room in the shoulders when I move around to shovel snow and do other outdoor activities. I can't wear a more shaped-fitting coat because they just fit too snugly in the waist and hip region on me. Plus I don't like that body-hugging feel in coats. This parka has all the features that I am looking for. It is comfortable, cozy feeling and has just enough plush for warmth without feeling like a stuffed pillow. I'm really looking forward to wearing this parka because we had such a cold winter last year. L.L. Bean is the only store that has a parka for women in this cut and fit design in a ladies petite, and I have a tough time finding extra large in petites. I'd like to mention that the side pockets close with zippers and there are inner cuffs on the sleeves to keep out the cold. I highly recommend this parka for anyone looking for a roomy and comfortable winter parka.
The jacket is a good overall down jacket. The faux fur is horrible, but at least it can be taken off and not used. I wish there were more interior pockets and a drawstring waist for a little shaping, but all in all, this is a very nice jacket.
