Beautiful coat - warm, comfortable, soft, perfect color - plus it looks great on me! What more could you ask for?! Love it! Haven't tested it yet in really cold temperatures (I live in Texas), but I have no doubt it will do well. If it fails, I'll update my review.
My mom and I chose this jacket for my winters at college in the Birkshires. We had previously purchased the women's version of the barn coat (for Fall) in Large Petite and the fit was great (I am 5'2). Roomy enough for a sweater or sweatshirt underneath but well proportioned. I did not find it "boxy" as some other reviewers mentioned.We opted to go with the regular Large in this coat and I am glad we did. It covers my rear (important in freezing cold weather) and I can cuff the sleeves if need be. The detatchable hood is a plus. Coat looks good with or without the hood. I am hoping this winter is not as brutal as last year, but with this coat I will be prepared!
This jacket is warm as the name implies. I love the soft sleeve wrist lining that hugs your wrists and keeps the cold air out. The jacket is short, barely covering the hips in my case. And I wish it were a little more snug in the hips, or had a draw cord there, but it's a great jacket for the price. Unlike other down jackets I've had, it does not shed feathers. The pockets are generous and well placed for comfort. The removable hood is warm and great for windy days. Overall, this is a handy wintertime jacket of great quality. I recommend it.
