I sent this to a dear friend in upstate New York. She loved it so much that she's wearing it already and has thanked me about ten times. She's 5'4" and 140 lbs and the medium fits perfectly. She also told me that her daughter who is 15 is asking to borrow it. If it has teenager approval then I know it's pretty. I count on L.L. Bean every year. I know that their products are top quality and I have another 4 items going to family and friends. You can't beat their fast delivery.
I loved everything about this coat...except the size! I am 5'3 and 130lbs. I ordered a small and an xs. The xs was so big that I could have fit another person in there! There was no feminine quality about the look, I just looked like I was in a very oversized coat. I'm not sure who they think is wearing their xs, but if you normally wear an xs, this will probably not fit. Because of the poor fit, it allowed cold air to blow right up the coat. Other than that, I loved this coat. The fabric is very nice, NOT the super shiny fabric that is popular that makes you look like you are wearing a trash bag. The faux fur is really nice and soft and fluffy. The zippers are also nice. I really loved the fact that you could not only remove the hood, but also the faux fur. That is an excellent feature. One note on the hood: If you remove the fur, the hood is very small and left my forehead exposed. With the fur, the hood gives plenty of protection against the elements. I wish LLBean had gotten the sizing right on this and made it a little more figure flattering. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend that I knew was the same size as me.
I have had this coat for 2 winters and this will be my 3rd. I got this in baby blue and love it. The sleeves get dirty from everyday use but I gentle wash cycle cleans them right up. Its very comfy and light weight but keeps me warm and wind proof. I took off 1 star because the hood is a little big and the fur looks a little funny when I fasten it. I normally wear a med but I ordered a sm and it fits me perfect. Overall I highly recommend this coat. Its the best one I have ever owned.
Got the beautiful periwinkle in XL, usually wear an XXL and this fits perfectly. So, yes, it does run about one size too big. The sleeves are nice and long and the coat covers most of my bum. I do not want to take this off. It's really cold in Minnesota and for the first time in years, I don't mind going outside with this coat.
It is a little bulky looking, but, I don't care because baby it's cold out there and I'm warm.
