I was so excited about this raincoat. The reviews were pretty decent and I liked the length and wool lining. It was indeed 3/4 length and had a hood, but the "wool lining" was about a 2 foot square patch in the middle of the back. The rest of the lining was that cold material that just makes walking in the rain unpleasant. Additionally, the shape was SO unflattering. I'm a fairly shapely woman and it made me look like I was wearing a box. To top it all off, the collar and ends of the sleeves were incredibly stiff and uncomfortable. This one was sent back right away. The search for a nice raincoat continues.
Temperatures can vary 14+ /-degrees within 24 hours and slush storms seem to be the norm. I have enjoyed the almost daily walks in snow/freezing rain/rain since I bought this coat at the end of December. I am finally as dry at the end of the walk as I was at the beginning. I especially like the length. No more wet legs. The hood gives excellent protection from the wind and rain. The wool liner keeps me warm. I also wear it to the office and church. Am looking forward to wearing it to Europe this spring. It is the perfect coat for me.
Three years ago I was given this coat for Christmas, and I find I wear it often during our nine-month rainy season. It really keeps me dry on daily walks. I'm a little under 5'2" and 128 lbs, have padded hips and a 36-inch bust and I use all my jeans pockets, since I don't like to carry a purse. The petite size L accommodates that and also allows me to wear multiple layers on top in the colder months. The coat pockets are intelligently designed; the ones on the sides are deep enough to hold gloves, etc. without danger of losing them, and the two inside pockets are handy. I keep snacks in the cell phone pocket and my cell phone in the upper inside pocket.
I'm much more oriented to function than to fashion. This coat is very functional for wet conditions and temperatures down to around 40 F. A long coat is not the kind of style that people usually wear here in the Pacific Northwest, but it really works to keep my legs dry. The fabric is softer and much quieter than many other raincoat fabrics out there. The hood keeps the drizzle out of my face and it stays up nicely.
The light mocha color shows up at night, which is a safety feature for me, and the only real complaint I have is that the color shows ground-in dirt. This is a problem around all the openings, especially the wrists. I wash the coat regularly but you can still see it. If it weren't for the nighttime visibility issue, I'd order another H2Off coat, in black, and fix that problem!
After reading the mixed reviews for this raincoat I took a chance and ordered it. Overall I'm quite pleased with my purchase. I was looking for a comfortable everyday, all-weather coat that would keep me warm and dry but still look nice and I found all of that with this coat. I wear it to work, running errands and on walks. The light mocha goes well with every color of slacks/jeans. I ordered a Medium as I'm 5'7" and average build. The fit is not restricting at all, there's enough room to wear a heavy sweater underneath if I need more warmth. The hood fits well and keeps my head dry. I like that it is removable. I like the deep, slanted pockets on the outside and the phone pocket on the inside. The sleeve cuffs are adjustable with double snaps to customize the fit. Mine was quite wrinkled when it arrived but I hung it in a steamy room and the wrinkles came out. Now I just hang it on a hook when I come in and no wrinkles.
