This coat is perfect for winter in northern California. It keeps the rain out as expected and is also a very good windbreaker, and the weight is just right for our 45-60 degree days. Nice, soft finish - not crackly/crinkly like some raincoats. Attractive lines, generous hood, good pockets. At first I didn't like the fact that it has a zipper and snaps but now I just snap a couple of the snaps and don't bother with the zipper unless it's really cold or wet, so that's a nice feature.
I bought this coat with zip out wool lining for a trip to Germany in the fall. It is wonderfully light weight and yet warm and absolutely waterproof.The fabric always looked neat even though the coat went in and out of my suitcase many times. It is the best all purpose raincoat I have ever owned.
This raincoat was everything I wanted. However LLBean must have heeded the reviewers who complained the raincoat was unflattering, because there's no extra room at all. I want a raincoat that's loose and comfortable. I am returning it and will continue my search. Also, the sleeve lining felt plastic and cheap.
I like this coat, but I wish that you still lined the sleeves with thinsulate, like the full-length one I purchased several years ago. It seems you have made this a midpoint between the mesh-lined and the newer, more severe-weather model. This is a good coat for cold and wet weather, but would be more valuable with insulated sleeves.
