I have had one of these for two years and I wear it year round. If you get it a little big you can wear it as a shell and make your own 3 in 1. It is a great rain and snow repellent coat and it fits well. It does not wrinkle if you just hang it on a hook. It is not too hot in summer, and the wool lining is fine for fall. I wear a thinsulate jacket under mine in the winter when it is wet and have been fine even in 10-20 degrees and blowing snow.
This is a nice solid rain coat. The hood is a good fit for me as my head is larger than normal so hoods on other jackets are either too short to go over my head or does not cover my entire head. There is a reinforcing bit on the brim of the hood to keep it in position over your eyes and not fold down over them.
The fit was as expected. I usually fit a size 12 or medium shirt. I have broad shoulders - 5'6", 150 lbs, 32" sleeves, 34/36 bust - so I ordered a large so the sleeves could be long enough and I could layer underneath. The sleeves fall to my knuckles (when arms are down at my side) and the hem falls right above my knees.
The lining is fine for fall - late fall. I do not plan on wearing it for a CT winter. The fabric is nice and quiet for a raincoat.
There are two inner pockets on top of each other on the left. The cell phone pocket is narrow and deep and placed near the bottom of the jacket so it could be awkward for some to get to it. I may use it to put a pen. The two outside pockets are well-designed and deep.
The only drawback is the lining can NOT be fastened to the sleeves near the wrist so the lining at the sleeve could be untucked when one removes the coat.
I purchased this coat last winter and LOVE it. Not warm enough for blizzards, but with a sweater and scarf, great for those 40's and cloudy days. Wore it on a torrentially rainy March trip to NYC along with knee-high boots and only the hem of my skirt was wet. The zipper is a bit sticky but manageable.
I puchased this coat to replace the H2Off coat I boutht 3 years ago, which had problems with the zipper. I hesitated before buying it, because I did not want another coat with a faulty zipper--but took a chance, because the H2Off fabric is so good. When it arrived, I was pleased to find that the zipper worked beautifully. The H2Off fabric is great--repels rain perfectly. I love a raincoat with a hood, and they are hard to find; umbrellas are too cumbersome. The liner zipped out easily; I have not used it yet, but am taking the coat and liner with me on a trip abroad later this fall, and I know it will serve me well. Thanks, LLBean, for taking care of the zipper problem in your previous line. I am so glad I have a great coat for my next trip!
